FAQs
What exactly does a contractor do?
A contractor is a builder. Anyone who takes a job for a fee over $500
dollars is required by law to be a contractor. Contractors can be licensed
as general engineering contractors, general builders, or in more specialized
trades, such as framing, well drilling, landscaping, or masonry. Contractors
dig foundations, frame housing, install roofing, install plumbing and
electrical systems, hang drywall, paint, and can perform many other jobs.
Upon completion of the trade and law portions of the contractor's
licensing course, and receipt of a California State Contractor's
License, you may work in any and all trades you're licensed for.
Why should I take a distance education course instead of a live class?
Distance learning allows you to take the class when you have the time!
You don't need to rush home from a hard day's work just to get
to a crowded classroom on time. With Allied's distance education
courses, you don't need to pay for babysitting, parking, extra gas,
or wasted time. You may take up to a year to complete Allied's California
Contractor Licensing Course in your spare time. Allied's Student
Services Department is only a phone call away!
